Yankees Preview: Will Warren gets the start going for the series win
New York has not won a series against the Reds in the Bronx since 2014.
NEW YORK — The Yankees (46-28) are going for a series win against the Reds (35-39) in the Bronx. The Yankees have not won a series against the Reds in the Bronx since 2014.
Austin Wells will continue his rehab assignment today after hitting two home runs for the RailRiders on Thursday. He will return to the Yankees lineup tomorrow, Aaron Boone said.
First pitch Saturday will be at 1:35pm on the YES Network and the Gotham Sports App.
Here is how the Yankees will line up today:
For the first time in 2026, Ben Rice is leading off against a left-handed starter. Spencer Jones will be on the bench against a lefty with José Caballero shifting to left field and Cody Bellinger in center. Anthony Volpe, who has been hot as of late, remains at shortstop with Ali Sanchez catching Will Warren. Also, Amed Rosario, who has been struggling, is batting second.
Here is how the Reds will line up today:
Pitching Matchup
Yankees RHP Will Warren (7-1, 3.47)
Will Warren did not have his best outing of the season in Toronto, but he kept the Yankees in the game. Warren leads baseball since the start of 2025 in called strikeouts, and as we saw last night, the Reds strike out a ton, which should benefit Warren, especially since he has almost double the strikeouts at home compared to on the road in 2026. Warren does need to give length today, something he has not done over his past few starts.

Reds LHP Andrew Abbott (4-4, 3.95)
Andrew Abbott is having a solid season for the Reds. He has given up 11 home runs on the season, five coming on the road, which should benefit the Yankees this afternoon. The Yankees also have the second-best WRC+ (120) in baseball against left-handed pitching and the best in baseball.
